General Information
NAVAC's most obvious mission is to respond to your emergency. We believe however that emergency care begins before the ambulance arrives.
Being prepared for an emergency goes a long way to keeping our community healthy and safe. A less obvious part of our mission is helping you to be prepared.
MedicAlert
It is important for friends, bystanders, and emergency medical personnel to be aware of any critical medical conditions that you may have, especially when you are unable to speak yourself. While NAVAC does not endorse any one product or service, MedicAlert is a non-profit organization that has undertaken the mission of recording and communicating this lifesaving information for many years. Visit their web site or download their application to help us help you.
Home First Aid Kits
Having a basic first aid items on-hand in your home, in your auto, and in your outdoor gear is a great first step in being prepared for life's little
emergencies. NAVAC has a list of suggested items to include in your first
aid kit.
Emergency Information Form
When the ambulance arrives at your home our paramedics will have many
questions . . . . about your age, health, medical history, medications, etc.
When you arrive at the hospital you will be asked these same questions
again. If you have a notable medical history or you use our services more
than once a year it will be helpful to everyone involved to have this
information written down ahead of time. Download a handy worksheet to
record this lifesaving information.
Emergency Medical Information for Caregivers
In this age of busy lifestyles anyone with children has had to use the services of a "sitter," whether it be a family members, a neighbor, or a
more formal childcare provider. NAVAC provides a worksheet for parents
to record the important information about themselves and their child, just in case one of life's little emergencies should occur.
