EMERGENCY SCENE REHABILITATION

Studies by the United States Fire Administration reveal that the leading cause of firefighter deaths nationwide continues to be heart attack.  NAVAC has undertaken a program to reduce the likelihood of, and ideally prevent, such a tragedy occurring among the fire departments with which we partner.
 

NAVAC's rehab team- NAVSTAR (NAVac Scene Treatment And Rehab) automatically responds to structure fires in support of the following departments:

The team has also provided support to the North Syracuse Police Department and Onondaga County Sheriff's Department.

NAVSTAR offers the following services:

Emergency Services Personnel Rehabilitation:  Medical monitoring and treatment of emergency services agencies personnel involved in extended operations to maintain the health, safety, and effectiveness.

Medical Sector: NAVSTAR will staff or compliment a medical sector.  NAVAC Squad 3 is outfitted with a large amount medical gear that can be used to setup or maintain a medical sector.

Communications Support Staff:  NAVAC will staff or compliment a communications sector.  NAVAC Squad 2 is outfitted with communications and computer gear.  This vehicle can be used as a mobile communications center.

Incident Management Staff:   NAVAC will participate and offer staff to assist in an incident command system according to the "NIMS" with EMS, fire, and police agencies working together at a unified command post.  The NAVSTAR component is self sufficient with its own command staff. 

NAVSTAR’s equipment inventory includes a 6 wheel Gator, mobile bathroom, and 3 Squads that provide a Mobile Command / Operations Post, and a Mobile Communication Center.
