Membership Requirements
Operational Positions

Attendant - is the first level of EMS operations, and is a "helper" on an ambulance crew.
Requirements for this role are certification in First Aid and CPR, which we provide, and
successful completion of NAVAC's Attendant Training program.
Driver - is a Member qualified to operate our ambulances and emergency response
vehicles. Requirements for this role are qualification as an Attendant and successful
completion of NAVAC's Driver Training program.
Crew Chief - is an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) who is responsible for directing an ambulance crew and managing the care of a patient. The Crew Chief must be certified by the New York State Department of Health as an EMT, AEMT-Intermediate, AEMT-Critical Care, or AEMT- Paramedic, and successfully complete our Crew Chief Training program.
Training Positions

CPR Instructor - an American Heart Association BLS Instructor who teaches Healthcare Provider and Community CPR classes.

First Aid Instructor - an American Safety and Health Institute Instructor who teaches First Aid and Wilderness First Aid classes.
Other Non-Operational Positions
- NAVAC has many opportunities to participate in crucial "behind the scenes" roles relating
to administration, community relations, and fund raising.
Individuals Considering Applying to NAVAC
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must complete an application that reviews education, employment history, emergency
services history, criminal convictions, and references.
Should plan to spend 12 hours per month in undertaking this commitment.
